 Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, September 6 (Reporter Mei Changwei) The promotion ceremony of the Central Military Commission to the rank of general was grandly held in Beijing Bayi Building on September 6. Xi Jinping, chairman of the Central Military Commission, issued orders to officers who were promoted to the rank of general.

At about 5:20 in the afternoon, the promotion ceremony began in the solemn sound of the national anthem. Xu Qiliang, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, read out the order for promotion to the rank of general signed by the chairman of the Central Military Commission Xi Jinping. Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, presided over the promotion ceremony.

The officers promoted to the rank of general this time are: Western Theater Commander Wang Haijiang, Central Theater Commander Lin Xiangyang, Navy Commander Dong Jun, Air Force Commander Chang Dingqiu, and National Defense University President Xu Xueqiang.

The five officers who were promoted to the rank of general came to the rostrum with rigorous looks and vigor. Xi Jinping issued a letter of order to them and congratulated them. The five officers wearing epaulettes of the rank of general saluted Xi Jinping and all the comrades who attended the ceremony. There was a warm applause from the audience.

The promotion ceremony ended with loud military singing. Afterwards, leading comrade Xi Jinping took a group photo with the officers who were promoted to the rank of general.

Members of the Central Military Commission Wei Fenghe, Li Zuocheng, Miao Hua, and Zhang Shengmin, as well as the main leaders of various departments of the Military Commission and major units in Beijing attended the promotion ceremony.
